$51M mansion isn’t too much for Tom Ford and his gay boyfriend

Rob Heyvaert, a master of private equity, paid $35.8 mιllιon for a modern estate in Palm Beach a little more than a year ago. The non-waterfront estate was sold to fashion entrepreneur Tom Ford by the East Coast-based financier this past December in an outrageous off-market deal for $51 mιllιon , which is around $15 mιllιon more than Heyvaert paid for the property in August 2021.

Ford’s newly acquired compound was designed by Daniel Kahan of Smith and Moore Architects, who won a prize for excellence in new architecture from the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach for his design, and built by seasoned preservationists Jim Held and Kenn Karakul. It is tucked away in a neighborhood of opulent estate homes situated between the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean, close to Lake Worth Lagoon.

The property, which was finished in 2016, consists of a main house and a detached guesthouse, both of which are single-story, all-white buildings with a combined five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

Penelope Irwin created a little over 10,000 square feet of traditional yet contemporary living space that includes banks of steel-framed French doors that connect to gardens and a central outdoor courtyard, high ceilings, and bleached wood floors throughout.

The main house is distinguished by glassy front doors that lead into an entry hall designed in the gallery style. A large living room opens up to the courtyard mentioned before, which is bordered by a dining room and library.

Other rooms include a music room, an office, and a family room beside the pool that is connected to a dining room and kitchen. Outside, a lap pool and an entertainment deck highlight the Mario Nievera-landscaped grounds.

The house’s eco-friendly features, which include fresh-air ventilation, water collecting, and water purification systems, 230 practically hidden solar panels, and flush strips of grass designed to assist absorb heat, stand out in particular.
