Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres spent just a hair under $70 mιllιon for the adjacent plots of land, which are perched atop a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, as was first revealed by Siteline Santa Barbara.
In addition to paying $41.7 mιllιon for the 3.4-acre Tuscan farmhouse-style residence, they also spent $28.2 mιllιon for the 6.6-acre parcel of land next door, which is currently home to a small lake and expansive lawns.
The two distinct parcels, which together make up a 10-acre, completely contiguous complex with a private path descending to the beach below, were last offered as a package for $80 mιllιon. It surpasses the $63 mιllιon that billionaire Riley Bechtel and his wife Susan paid for a far larger Montecito property two years ago to become the most ever paid for a Santa Barbara-area estate.
The new mansion of DeGeneres and de Rossi is little over 9,000 square feet on three storeys, with five bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
The terracotta-roofed, beige-colored building has high exposed wood beam ceilings, hardwood floors, stone archways, and marble elements throughout. Additionally, there is a guesthouse with one bedroom, one bathroom, and an adjacent three-car garage that is bordered by a cobblestone motorcourt.
A beautiful great room with an enormous antique fireplace, as well as a family room and dining area that open to a gourmet kitchen equipped with high-end appliances, a center island, and two butler pantries, stand out especially on the main floor.
Upstairs, there are five ensuite bedrooms, including a master retreat with a spa-equipped patio, dual walk-in closets, and a bathroom; downstairs, there is a wine cellar and a modern theater with reclining leather chairs.
