Greenwich Village apartment once owned by Kate Moss and Johnny Depp is on the market

In the 1990s, supermodel Kate Moss and “Pirates of the Caribbean” star Johnny Depp called a Greenwich Village brownstone home for four years. This private duplex, along with three other apartment units, is now on the market for $15.5 million. The historic Federal-style townhouse, built around 1826 and located at 112 Waverly Place, is situated less than a block away from Washington Square Park.

Here are the details about the property:

The building units feature spacious windows, high ceilings, wood-burning fireplaces, and private outdoor spaces.
All the units are 22 feet wide and retain original features such as hardwood floors, mahogany molding, and exposed brick.
The townhouse was reimagined in the early 1900s with a brick facade.

Kate Moss and Johnny Depp lived in the 1,800-square-foot skylit duplex, known as the “carriage house,” from 1994 to 1998. Originally built as an artist’s studio, it later served as the Little Theatre in the early 1900s, which explains its unique architectural details. The duplex features a dramatic skylight, 17-foot beamed ceilings, and a wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen boasts a copper ceiling, and a mezzanine level leads to a rooftop with stunning views of the Empire State Building.

Over the years, this property has attracted various creatives, including actors James Spader and Fisher Stevens, painter Everett Shinn, and playwright Lorraine Hansberry, known for “A Raisin in the Sun” and as the first Black woman to have a play produced on Broadway.

Reportedly, the carriage house was rented for $16,000 a month in 2021. The townhouse was last sold in 2016 for just under $14 million. The property is currently listed with Randy Baruh and Meris & Kenny Blumstein of the Corcoran Group. Its historical charm, artistic legacy, and prime Greenwich Village location make it a highly desirable piece of New York real estate.
