Spinner for salad. CDs stacked high. television center for BBC. On Twitter, people have used all of these terms to describe 1169 Loma Linda Drive in Los Angeles. If Justin Bieber had not previously lived there, its distinctive architecture might have gone overlooked by the general public.
Yes, the singer of “Yummy” once resided in this Beverly Hills apartment. Contrary to what many tweeters appear to think, Bieber just rented the house; he paid close to $60,000 per month for it in 2015, five years prior.
Ed Niles created the home, which was finished in 2009. Its expansive, modernist style is one of many in the well-known architect’s ƅody of work, including an industrial beach mansion in California that had a $53 M asking price but is no longer available and another enormous glass house in Malibu that sold for $4.2 M in January.
Not only has this LA home drawn criticism for its design, but Pharrell Williams’ enormous, glassy Beverly Hills mansion, which was just put on the market for $17 M, has also drawn criticism for its design. Critics with keyboard bravado compared it to a school or an office building.
The Loma Linda Drive address, on the other hand, has an elevator, an infinity pool, a six-car garage, 7,500 square feet of living space, six bedrooms, and six and a half bathrooms. Funny enough, though, users’ complaints about the architecture matched those of Bieber, who left the building after only two months due to the unwelcome openness the glass façade gave to paparazzi, according to Highsnobiety.
It is not now on the MLS but was last on the market for slightly under $15 M. Given its size, location in Beverly Hills, and fantastic views, we can’t help but assume that some uninformed assistant must have rented it out to Bieber without having seen it first.
The house has previously experienced Internet celebrity. Additionally, it served as the primary website for the music video for “It’s Everyday Bro” by well-known YouTuber Jake Paul, which has received over 250 M views since it was posted in 2017.
But where, oh where, is Justin Bieber now residing? The singer now owns two brand-new homes that are noticeably less ostentatious: a $8.5 M Beverly Hills mansion and a $5 M estate in Ontario, Canada. Though Bieber bought the latter in March of last year, he’s already considering selling it, as evidenced by his Instagram post from October asking, “I wanna sell it I think anyone interested?” A move, though, may be imminent. No word yet on whether anyone has accepted his offer.
