David Beckham has reportedly spent about $5M on a boat that he had a hand in designing.

The 46-year-old former footballer for England and Manchester United decided to become a diver after being motivated by vacations spent at sea with Sir Elton John and his husband, David Furnish.

The man who is a father of four has high hopes that he would be able to take his family sailing around the Florida Keys on their new catamaran in the new year with his wife Victoria by his side.

A source revealed that during the summer, David shopped around for boats and ultimately chose to own one for himself.

He was personally involved in the design of the yacht, and he has been quite hands-on with everything else.

Although it is not a yacht in the style of those owned by oligarchs, it is nonetheless quite luxurious in comparison to other vessels.

“He was motivated after spending his vacation with Elton and David on their boat since he adores living on the ocean.

“There will be an area for the kids to snorkel, and the boat will be a brilliant base for the whole Beckham clan to have magical holidays abroad,” said David Beckham.
