It was rumored for the first time back in December that he was looking for a home in the Los Angeles area.
And reports indicate that Benedict Cumberbatch has successfully closed the deal on the extravagant property in Hidden Hills, California that he had been looking at for the past few months.
The breathtaking Tuscan-style mansion, which features seven bedrooms, will serve as a base in the United States for Benedict and his fiancee-to-be Sophie Hunter, as shown in new aerial photos of the property.
The new residence of one of Sherlock’s most popular characters comes complete with a private tennis court, huge outbuildings, a swimming pool.
In addition, there are seven bedrooms, nine and a half baths, a bar, a movie room, a fitness center, a library, and a five-car garage in the mansion.
Benedict has already refuted rumors that he is migrating to the United States permanently, thus the picture evidence comes as a surprise.
However, when questioned by The Independent regarding his impending relocation, he did not rule out the possibility of establishing a temporary base on the other side of the pond.
According to what he told the tabloid, “My friends are here, my family is here [in London], and Sophie is here; it does not make sense to uproot my whole life.” “I am able to travel for work, but I don’t think I could ever want to live anywhere else full-time.”
Two months ago, when Benedict was claimed to have been blown away by the house’s panoramic views, it was originally reported that he was interested in purchasing the property and that’s when he reportedly expressed interest in buying it.
‘Benedict’s representatives have suggested he is ready to make an initial bid which will not be too far off the asking price, so he might be moving in early in the New Year,’ an estate agent was quoted as saying in the Daily Express.
There is little doubt that the manor house will serve as a more than suitable married home for Benedict and his fiancee Sophie, to whom he made the proposal at the beginning of November.
