Kevin Hart looks cool in his Buick Grand National

The car also made an appearance at the 2022 SEMA show in Las Vegas, where it was showcased at the Magnaflow booth. According to designer Sean Smith, the restomod project aims to maintain its allegiance to the original Grand National’s DNA and heritage, all while carefully balancing a blend of conservatism and innovation.

The vehicle rests upon a custom chassis, with various carbon-fiber components enhancing different aspects of its bodywork. Under the hood, it packs a single-turbo iteration of the Cadillac ATS-V’s LF4 3.6-liter V-6 engine. This choice was made because it closely aligns with what GM might have chosen for the Grand National had it been in production today.

In its current state, the engine generates an impressive 650 horsepower on 103-octane gasoline, running at approximately 20 psi of boost. The project remаins a work in progress, with future plans involving the installation of performance camshafts to further increase power, targeting around 700 horsepower when using race-grade fuel.
