On the Road with Tom Hardy: The Story behind his Striking Sponsored Convertible

Tom Hardy, renowned for his role in Venom, has a profound affinity for high-speed automobiles. Among his prized possessions are a sleek matte black Audi R8 Spyder and a vibrant red Audi RS 5. These opulent vehicles not only exude speed but also showcase remarkable elegance.

Notably, during the promotion of The Dark Knight Rises in London back in 2012, Hardy made a memorable appearance in his Spyder, a move that served as a clever marketing maneuver.

The presence of the Batmobile wasn’t a prerequisite for Hardy’s fans to flock to his movies, although it undeniably contributed to a well-devised promotional tactic. Following the premiere of Batman 3, the 34-year-old actor emerged from London’s Dorchester Hotel in his convertible supercar, the UK version of the Audi R8 Spyder, which comes with a price tag of £117,740 (equivalent to approximately $184,845 USԀ).

Impressively, Hardy invested an additional £4,000 ($6,279 USԀ) to customize his beloved vehicle’s exterior with a striking matte black coating.

Declaring his allegiance to the Audi brand, Hardy stated, “I’m Audi-sponsored. To be candid, I’ve exclusively driven Audis. They are truly exceptional. Audi as a brand is exceptional.”

The Audi R8 Spyder boasts two distinct engine choices. The initial option comprises a potent 5.2-liter V10 engine delivering 525 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque. Alternatively, the second engine variant, a 4.2-liter V8, generates 430 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. Noteworthy is the sequential release of the Audi R8 V8 Spyder after the introduction of the V10 model.
