The 93-metre Bermuda-rigged schooner Eos, named after the Greek Goddess of Dawn, has three extremely tall masts. One of the largest private yachts, it was launched in 2006. International fashion designer Diane von Furstenburg and her husband Barry Diller bought it in 2009.
The Lürssen shipyard in Bremen, Germany, produced the Eos in three years. Rondal/Huisman supplied the rig, Bill Langan designed the exterior, François Catroux designed the interior, and the shipyard designed the naval architecture.
So the boat could pass under bridges worldwide, the masts were 61 meters tall according to international regulations. After completion, the Eos surpassed the Athena as the world’s largest sailing yacht.
The Eos, worth about US$150M, can carry 16 guests and 21 crew members for a luxurious ride. Two strong MTU diesel engines allow the yacht to cruise at 14 knots and reach 16 knots. Every modern convenience provides safe and comfortable travel.
The Eos makes ocean navigation easy with its cutting-edge navigation technology and well-rigged electric sails. Online photos of the Eos depict a sumptuous and stylish interior.
The yacht is rumored to have a Jacuzzi on the upper deck and several lavish places for entertainment. A lavish glass stairway and panoramic views from the boat’s back are also mentioned. A variety of speedboats can take guests and employees ashore.
