To suggest Ricky Martin, 40, retains a boyish appeal may be the understatement of the year. The Puerto Rican idol rose to prominence as an innocent 12-year-old wonder in the boy band Menudo, which was adored by both teenyboppers and grandmothers.
Since then, he has hardly been out of the public glare. Martin, who recently completed a spectacular engagement at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, will play Gianni Versace’s boyfriend Antonio D’Amico in producer Ryan Murphy’s : American Crime Story, which will premiere on FX in January.
Martin’s biggest joy, despite his popularity, is the beautiful home life he has created with fiancé Jwan Yosef, a Syrian-born Swedish artist, and their nine-year-old twins, Matteo and Valentino.
The couple met in London, where Yosef was living at the time, two years ago and spent the next twelve months traveling the world on Martin’s One World Tour. The children accompanied them during the ride.
Tino and Matteo were born while traveling. “They’re used to staying in one place for two weeks and then moving on,” Martin explains. “When we’re together, our kids are stable. “Home is wherever we happen to be.”
However, the family’s sense of home now has a physical place, namely Beverly Hills. “We considered living in London or New York City, but decided to rent in Los Angeles for a month to get a sense of the vibe.” L.A.
Completely surprised us—we loved it. We knew we to be here by the end of the month,” Yosef recalls. After a three-day marathon house-hunting journey, the couple settled on the first place they saw, a calm, contemporary residence.
The 11,000-square-foot residence was built around a 3,000-square-foot home constructed by famed midcentury architect Gregory Ain in 1953 for doctor Fred Feldman and his wife, Elaine.
